NAME
fbfloat - install a FirstBase Floating License
SYNOPSIS
fbfloat
DESCRIPTION
Fbfloat is used to install new FirstBase floating licenses.
The tool is a full screen, interactive license editor, using the FirstBase
style of data input. There are four fields for input, each described below.
The file that the licenses are stored in is $FIRSTBASEHOME/.firstbase-flicense.
-
Sequence ID
-
The first field is the sequence field. Each license has a unique ID,
starting with sequence 001. The sequence must be kept sequential --
fbfloat knows this and will default to the needed sequence
number. However, you can reinstall a particular license in place,
meaning you would enter the sequence ID of an existing license.
-
Exclusive User
-
To lock this license to a particular user, the Exclusive User field is used.
Enter a UNIX UID number and nobody other than this one user will have
access to this FirstBase floating license. With no entry, all users may have
access to it, depending on the next field.
-
Exclusive Group
-
To lock this license to a particular group, the Exclusive Group field is used.
Enter a UNIX GID number, and only those in this specific group will have
access to this FirstBase floating license. With no entry, all users will have
access to it.
-
Floating License
-
This forth field is the encrypted floating license itself.
After entering each of the fields, the license can be added
to the license file, and editing can continue. Mistakes can be changed by
cycling back through the data, using ^X (Control-X) to skip fields
that are already correct.
